Highlights from the Joint Session on Non-Conventional Waters at EGU25

On Wednesday, 30 April 2025, the first coordination meeting on Non-Conventional Waters in the Mediterranean Region took place during the EGU General Assembly 2025 (European Geosciences Union).

This session was the result of a joint initiative between three PRIMA S2 2021-funded projects – AGREEMed, AGREEMAR, and AG-WaMED – united by a shared goal: to advance sustainable and innovative water governance in climate-stressed environments.

An engaging and insightful session
Participants discussed key project results, identified common methodologies, and explored potential future collaborations for more resilient and adaptive water management practices.

A promising first step towards an international working group
The session also marked the launch of a future working group on Non-Conventional Waters, supported by IAHS (International Association of Hydrological Sciences), with the aim of strengthening synergies across Mediterranean and global initiatives.

AGREEMED is part of the PRIMA programme supported
by the European Union.
