AGREEMed project at the Regional Water Exhibition in Tahnaout-Elhaouz Region in Morocco

The Regional Water Exhibition was organized by Tensift Hydraulic Basin Agency ( ABHT) in Tahnaout-Elhaouz Region on 1st March 2023.  The exhibition brought together exhibitors representing various organizations involved in the water sector, academic institutions, and companies specialized in water management technologies. The Minister of Equipment and Water took part in the exhibition. During the exhibition, the project coordinator Professor Yassine Ait Brahim presented the AGREEMed project.

 

1st AGREEMed Workshop "𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬"held in Tunisia on 11 January 2023

The 1st AGREEMed 𝗐𝗈𝗋𝗄𝗌𝗁𝗈𝗉 "𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬" was held in Tunisia on 11 January 2023.

The workshop was organized by the Tunisian partner “Water Research and Technology Center” CERTE.   Several national and regional stakeholders participated at the workshop held in Hammamet, Tunisia such as:

  • The National Environmental Protection Agency ANPE
  • The International Environmental Technology Centre in Tunis CITET
  • The Tunisian Hotel Federation FTH
  • The Hammamet Environmental Education Association AERE,
  • The Regional Commissioner for Agricultural Development CRDA Nabeul
  • The National Company of exploitation and distribution of water SONEDE
  • The  National Sanitation Authority ONAS
  • The German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ
  • The Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries UTAP
  • The Municipality of Hammamat 

The workshop was an opportunity to share knowledge on the state of water resources in the region of Hammamet and to co-construct sustainable solutions for the preservation of the water table of Hammamet with the different participant actors.

AGREEMed Project workshop: water solutions in the Southern Mediterranean

UM6P organized on 6 October 2022  in Benguerir – Morocco a workshop on "water solutions in the Southern Mediterranean" in the framework of AGREEMed project. During the workshop, the project team presented a general overview of  AGREEMed, with an emphasis on the solutions that the project might offer and its continuity. Students, scientists, and professors from different departments from the International Water Research Institute (IWRI) and from the Center for Remote Sensing Applications (CRSA) participated at the event.  Stakeholders from INGREF-Tunisia and IRD-France took also part in the workshop. 

In order to create synergies between AgreeMed and other EU and PRIMA-funded projects, 3 projects were presented during the workshop: 

  • ERA-NETs SUSFOOD2 "Strengthen efforts to support research in the field of SUStainable FOOD production and consumption"
  • MedAgriFoodResilience "Socio-environmental shocks assessment and resilience empowerment in Mediterranean agri-food heritage systems: Italy, Morocco, Algeria FAO GIAHS sites"  
  • Project PRIMA BIOMEnext "Modelling integrated biodiversity-based next generation Mediterranean farming systems" 

Recently selected IWRI’s projects for funding in national and international calls

The International Water Research Institute (IWRI) is delighted to announce that the project AGREEMed has been selected for funding by the 2021 PRIMA Call Section 2– Multi-topic.

General presentation of the AGREEMed Project at the UM6P campus in Benguerir – Morocco

A general presentation of AgreeMed project was organized on 31 January 2023 at the UM6P campus in Benguerir – Morocco. During the event the project coordinator presented  the overview and the objectives of the AGREEMed project, with an emphasis on the activities of work packages 2 "Advancing scientific knowledge about aquifers" and 6 "Institutional innovation & Socioeconomic intelligence". Students, scientists, and professors from different departments from UM6P, representatives from different universities in Morocco (IBn Zohr University in Agadir, Mohammed V University in Rabat, and Sultan Moulay Slimane University in Beni Mellal), experts from University of Quebec in Montreal-Canada, University of Northumbria-UK, and INGREF-Tunisia took part of the meeting. 

 

Kick-off meeting of AGREEMed project

The kick-off meeting of AGREEMed project was held online on the 1st of June 2022.
